Setup Linksys Re6300 Extender

The Linksys RE6300 Wi-Fi Range Extender is an easy-to-use, plug-in range extender that enables you to expand the coverage area of your home Wi-Fi network effortlessly. The LINKSYS RE6300 EXTENDER has a single gigabit ethernet port. The primary router can be bridged to an Ethernet device wired to the network, such as a PC or media server.

Linksys Re6300 Extender Web-Based Setup

  1. Step 1:

    Connect a PC or mobile device to the range extender’s default Wi-Fi name, LINKSYS RE6300 EXTENDER Setup – XXXX. The xxx represents the last three characters of the Linksys RE6300’s MAC address, which can be found on the device’s back label.

  2. Step 2:

    Launch a web browser and type “http://extender.linksys.com” or “192.168.1.1” into the Address bar before pressing [Enter].

  3. Step 3:

    Press the Start Setup button.

  4. Step 4: 

    During setup, the As a wireless range extender option will be selected by default. Select Nex.

  5. Step 5:

    Choose your Wi-Fi. If you have a dual-band Wi-Fi router, you should be able to view both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, bands. If your Wi-Fi network is not shown, reset the range extender and return to Step 1.

    Note: If you have hidden Wi-Fi, scroll to the bottom of the list and select Manually. To access your Wi-Fi settings, enter the Network Name and Password.

  6. Step 6: 

     Type your Wi-Fi password into the slot and press Next.

  7. Step 7: 

    After connecting, you will be prompted to configure the expanded Wi-Fi that the range extender will broadcast to neighbouring customers. You can either customize the settings or leave them as they are. Next, click.

  8. Step 8:

    Click Next if the Spot Finder says that the Linksys RE6300 is in the ideal place. This feature selects the ideal Wi-Fi extension and speed. If your range extender is too far away or too close, move it to a better location (recommended), then return to Step 1.

  9. Step 9:

     To safeguard your Linksys RE6300, create an admin password. You may also provide a password hint. When you’re finished, click Save.

  10. Step 10: 

    You will be prompted to register the range extender. Enter your email address and then click Next.

Linksys Re6300 Extender WPS Setup

  • Push button for Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).
  • Hit the Wi-Fi Protected Setup button on your router, and then press the WPS button on the side panel of your range extender. 
  • If your router has a Wi-Fi Protected Setup button, press it.

Note:  If the range extender has not been configured, pushing the WPS button will pair it with an existing wireless network or access point and configure it if it has not been configured.

However, if the extender has already been set up, hitting the WPS button will allow it to pair with wireless clients such as wireless laptops or any other device that supports WPS. This is true even if the extender has previously been established.

How to Reset Linksys Extender Re6300 

Step 1: Open a web browser and go to the page where you can set up your Linksys range extender over the web. Click here to see how to do something.
Step 2: Click Factory Defaults under Administration.
Step 3: Click the button that says “Restore Factory Defaults.”
Step 4: Unplug the range extender from the power outlet and leave it off for 30 seconds. Plug in the thing again.
WORTH NOTING: If you made a backup of your expander’s settings before resetting it to factory defaults, click the Restore Configurations button under the Management sub-tab and then click Save Settings.
